Representative Danielson introduced House Bill 15-1133 to the committee. The bill continues the Colorado Pay Equity Commission, which was created to address issues relating to pay equity in the work place. The Commission was originally created in 2010 and is currently scheduled to repeal on July 1, 2015.

Representative Danielson responded to questions from the committee.

Erin Bennett, 9to5, testified in support of the bill. Ms. Bennett spoke about data regarding current gaps in pay equity, along with discussing the work of the Commission. Ms. Bennett responded to questions from committee members regarding what 9to5 does, how the data regarding pay equity was gathered (US Dept. of Labor), statistics for Colorado specifically, laws regarding equal pay, goals of the Commission to provide recommendations, funding for the Commission and how the Commission was staffed, and how the pay equity gap data was gathered and what questions were asked.

Representatives K. Becker and Lawrence introduced House Bill 15-1047. The bill prohibits internet sweepstakes cafes and similar establishments in which simulated gambling devices are used to award prizes to customers since they are unconstitutional. The bill creates a new misdemeanor offense for offering these devices in exchange for any type of consideration.
