01:38 PM -- State Symbols and Emblems Brochure

Mr. Thom Buchanan presented his proposed design for the symbols and emblems brochure. Committee members received a proposed illustration for shelter pets as the state pet (Attachment A), and a packet of design mock-ups for the redesigned brochure (Attachment B). Ms. Julia Jackson, Legislative Council Staff, explained that the brochure will now be published and funded through Legislative Council Staff. Committee members discussed the brochure, and Mr. Buchanan's design for the state pet symbol. Mr. Walter expressed concern with the scale of the three animals in the illustration, noting that the puppy looks large compared to the cat. Ms. Miklosi and Mr. Buchanan discussed the text for each symbol and the proposed design for the back of the brochure.
