SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 99-013
CONCERNING NAMING THE DIVISION OF YOUTH CORRECTIONS
FACILITY AFTER SENATOR ROBERT E. DENIER.
WHEREAS, Robert E. DeNier of Durango served his country
with honor in World War II in the European Theatre; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. DeNier further served his country
with honor for twentyseven years as an agent of the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, with the last nineteen years of service
in Southwest Colorado; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. DeNier served with great distinction
in the Colorado General Assembly as a Representative from 1976
to 1982 and as a Senator from 1986 to 1990; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. DeNier was the Republican candidate
for Lieutenant Governor in 1982; and
WHEREAS, Senator DeNier was a member of the Joint
Budget Committee for four years; and
WHEREAS, Senator DeNier championed innovative and
farreaching legislation in the fields of criminal justice
and juvenile justice and corrections; and
WHEREAS, Senator DeNier and his wife Wilma continue
to contribute to the wellbeing of the community; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Sixtysecond
General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives
concurring herein:
That the new Division of Youth Corrections facility to be located in La Plata County be named in honor of Senator Robert E. DeNier.
