Prayer By the chaplain, Reverend Gilbert Caldwell, Park Hill United Methodist Church.

Roll Call Present--Total, 35.

Quorum The President announced a quorum present.

Reading of On motion of Senator Andrews, reading of the Journal of January 8th was

Journal dispensed with and the Journal stands approved as corrected by the Secretary.

CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTIONS

SJR 99-007 by Senator Lacy; also Representative Tool--Concerning budget review by committees of reference.

Amendment No. 1, by Senator Lacy

Amend printed resolution, page 1, strike lines 9 and 10, and substitute the following:

"shall also review, each year, the budget of all the departments of the

executive department of state government or the portions";

line 16, strike "two", and substitute "two";

strike lines 21 and 22, and substitute the following:

"fifteenth THIRTIETH legislative day. At such hearings, personnel of the

executive departments shall provide to the appropriate committee";

strike lines 26 through 28, and substitute the following:

"department's budget hearing. IN ADDITION TO SUCH HEARINGS, PRIOR TO THE

THIRTIETH LEGISLATIVE DAY, the staff of the Joint Budget Committee

MEMBERS shall ALSO be available to provide".

A majority of all members elected to the Senate having voted in the affirmative, the

amendment was adopted.

On motion of Senator Lacy, the Resolution, as amended, was ADOPTED by the following roll call vote:
