CONGRATULATING THE DENVER BRONCOS IN THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP WIN AND EXTENDING SUPPORT IN THEIR QUEST TO BRING HOME THEIR SECOND SUPER BOWL TROPHY.

WHEREAS, The Denver Broncos completed the regular season with a record of fourteen wins and two losses to qualify as a playoff team; and

WHEREAS, The Broncos avenged their regular season loss to the Miami Dolphins in the AFC Divisional Playoffs; and

WHEREAS, The Broncos hijacked the Jets in the AFC Championship Playoff Game at Mile High Stadium; and

WHEREAS, The Broncos overcame turbulent winds to ground Vinny and the Jets by a score of 23-10 to become AFC Champions; and

WHEREAS, It is the franchise's AFC-record sixth trip to Super Sunday; and


WHEREAS, It is the fifth time in his Hall of Fame career that John Elway has led the Broncos to AFC championships; and

WHEREAS, John Elway becomes the first quarterback in NFL history to start in five Super Bowls; and

WHEREAS, By rushing 2008 yards in the regular season, Terrell Davis achieved both the League rushing title and the Most Valuable Player award in the NFL; and

WHEREAS, The Broncos will face the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII on Sunday, January 31, 1999, in Miami, Florida; and

WHEREAS, The Broncos, their future Hall of Fame Quarterback, John Elway, their All­Pro Running Back, Terrell Davis, and their surging defense are playing their best football of the season; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty-second General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein:

That we, the members of the Colorado General Assembly, extend our congratulations and support to the players, coaches, and fans of the Denver Broncos in their quest to bring their second Super Bowl Trophy to Colorado ­ where it belongs!

Be it further resolved, That copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Denver Broncos and such other persons as members of the House of Representatives may request.
