TITLE: CONCERNING THE REGULATION OF NURSING HOME ADMINISTRATORS, AND, IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, CONTINUING THE BOARD OF EXAMINERS OF NURSING HOME ADMINISTRATORS.
Summary of Assessment
This bill provides for the continuation of the Board of Nursing Home Administrators, Division of Registrations, Department of Regulatory Agencies, for an additional ten years, until July 1, 2009. The bill also makes the following changes:
• changes the composition of the board by adding a licensed long-term health care professional;
• requires that board members be actively licensed and engaged as a practicing member in the profession without a lapse of employment greater than 120 days, as well as other changes to board member qualifications; and
• clarifies the licensure requirements to allow an applicant to be admitted to the licensing examination and be entitled to, or be granted, a license as a nursing home administrator.
The bill would become effective July 1, 1999.
The Board of Nursing Home Administrators was appropriated $110,284 and 0.9 FTE for FY 1998/99. The addition of one board member would increase the annual per diem costs by $200 and have a minimal impact on board members’ travel costs. Any increases in program costs can be absorbed within the board’s current appropriation. The bill will not impact any other state agency, or unit of local government. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
