TITLE:            CONCERNING THE PROVISION OF SPECIAL PLATES FOR MILITARY VETERANS.

Summary of Assessment

The bill would allow the Department of Revenue to issue a special license plate to a military veteran for a motorhome. There are approximately 34,000 motorhomes in Colorado, 4 Medal of Honor holders, and 31,000 honorably discharged veterans. The number of veterans who are also motorhome owners is not known. However, it is estimated that the number of persons that would qualify for this special plate would be minimal. Each veteran would pay an additional $10 for the plate in addition to the regular fees and taxes. The Department of Revenue would be required to do 400 hours of programming to implement this bill. These programming changes would be completed as part of the normal business process within the department and would not require additional resources. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
