TITLE:            CONCERNING COVERAGE UNDER A HEALTH BENEFIT PLAN OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES RELATED TO A WOMAN'S REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM PROVIDED BY PARTICIPATING PHYSICIANS WHO ROUTINELY PRACTICE WOMEN'S REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM HEALTH CARE.

Summary of Assessment

            The bill provides that the term "plan" shall include a network as defined in Section 10-16-102 (27.5), C.R.S., and allows a woman to select any obstetrician or gynecologist who is affiliated with the plan. The bill includes an effective date of July 1, 1999, and applies to all claims related to reproductive health filed by a woman covered under a plan on or after that date.

            The Department of Regulatory Agencies indicates that current statutes specify similar requirements for managed care plans. The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing indicates that the bill will not affect the Medicaid Managed Care Program. Therefore, the bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
