TITLE: CONCERNING THE CLARIFICATION OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF INVESTIGATIVE POSITIONS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.
Summary of Assessment
This bill clarifies the role of investigative positions within the Department of Corrections (DOC). Currently, investigative functions are associated with the Executive Director's office and are responsible for the investigation of all violations of administrative regulations pertaining, but not limited to, sexual and workplace harassment and discrimination, employee misconduct and breaches of the code of conduct. Investigations may also include pre-employment background checks and legal violations. Completed investigations are referred to the appropriate District Attorney's office or relevant agency for filing and prosecution.
These functions are currently funded and budgeted through appropriations to the DOC Executive Director office. This bill would not expand or decrease the responsibilities of investigators. Therefore, there is no fiscal impact associated with this bill.
