TITLE:            CONCERNING LIMITED IMMUNITY FOR THE USE OF AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.



Summary of Assessment


            This bill grants immunity to persons and entities who render emergency care or treatment, without compensation, to a person in cardiac arrest by the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), so long as the person or entity meets certain training, maintenance, and notification requirements. The bill would become effective upon signature of the Governor.


            This bill will provide immunity to persons and entities using an AED to render emergency care to a person in cardiac arrest. The provisions of this bill will not affect any state agency or unit of local government. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
