TITLE:            CONCERNING AN INCREASE IN THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT THAT A RAILROAD CORPORATION MAY BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR RAILROAD CROSSINGS.

Summary of Assessment

The bill would increase the maximum amount that a railroad company may be required to pay for a railroad crossing project from $1.25 million to $2.5 million. The bill allows private companies to contribute more money to a railroad crossing project. This would not increase the state's total expenditure for railroad crossing projects, but would allow the same amount of state contributions to be used to fund more projects. This bill would not increase the workload, expenditure, or revenue for any state or local government. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact. The bill would become effective upon the Governor's signature.
