A BILL FOR AN ACT

CONCERNING AUTHORIZATION FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF MONEYS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE CASH FUND BY THE COLORADO TOURISM BOARD DURING THE 1998­99 FISCAL YEAR.

Authorizes the appropriation of up to $2,300,000 from the department of state cash fund to the Colorado tourism board during the 1998­99 fiscal year. States that the board may use such moneys in accordance with its statutory authority; except that the moneys shall not be used for programs related to Colorado welcome centers and the production and distribution of state highway maps.


Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:

SECTION 1.  24­21­104 (3) (d), Colorado Revised Statutes, is amended BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SUBPARAGRAPH to read: 24­21­104.  Fees of secretary of state. (3) (d) (IV)  NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION OF PARAGRAPH (b) OF THIS SUBSECTION (3) TO THE CONTRARY, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JULY 1, 1998, UP TO TWO MILLION THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS MAY BE APPROPRIATED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE CASH FUND TO THE COLORADO TOURISM BOARD FOR USE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 24­32­1305; EXCEPT THAT SUCH MONEYS SHALL NOT BE USED FOR PROGRAMS RELATED TO COLORADO WELCOME CENTERS OR THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF STATE HIGHWAY MAPS.

SECTION 2.  Safety clause.  The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.
