CONCERNING THE EXCEPTION OF SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS
AND SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKERS FROM CERTAIN TEACHER LICENSING EXAMINATION
REQUIREMENTS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State
of Colorado:
SECTION 1. 2260.5210
(1) (a) (III), Colorado Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
2260.5210. Types of special
services licenses issued term.
(1) The department of education is designated as the
sole agency authorized to issue the following types of special
services licenses to persons of good moral character:
(a) Provisional special services license.
(III) For purposes of this paragraph (a), in establishing
standards pursuant to subsubparagraph (B) of subparagraph
(I) of this paragraph (a) concerning academic and professional
preparation and experience and performance with regard to SCHOOL
PSYCHOLOGISTS, SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKERS, occupational therapists,
physical therapists, and school nurses, the state board of education
shall not require an applicant for a provisional special services
license who holds a valid Colorado license or registration or
valid national certificate to take and achieve a passing score
on an assessment of basic skills.
SECTION 2. Safety
clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and
declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health, and safety.
