A BILL FOR AN ACT

CONCERNING AUTHORIZING THE STATE BOARD OF VETERINARY MEDICINE TO ISSUE A LICENSE TO PRACTICE VETERINARY MEDICINE IN COLORADO TO PERSONS WHO DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSURE BY EXAMINATION BUT WHO HAVE BEEN LICENSED IN ANOTHER STATE FOR TWENTY­FIVE YEARS OR LONGER.

Authorizes the state board of veterinary medicine to issue a license by endorsement to a person who does not meet all of the requirements for licensure by examination but who has been licensed in another state and practicing in good standing for 25 years or longer.


Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:

SECTION 1.  12­64­108 (4), Colorado Revised Statutes, is amended BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW PARAGRAPH to read:

12­64­108.  Examinations ­ license by endorsement. (4) (c)  THE BOARD MAY ISSUE A LICENSE BY ENDORSEMENT TO ENGAGE IN THE PRACTICE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE IN THIS STATE TO ANY APPLICANT WHO DOES NOT MEET ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSURE BY EXAMINATION IF SUCH APPLICANT HAS BEEN LICENSED IN ANOTHER STATE OR STATES AND ACTIVELY PRACTICING, IN GOOD STANDING AND WITHOUT ANY DISCIPLINARY ACTION, FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTY­FIVE YEARS OR LONGER.

SECTION 2.  Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.
