NO FISCAL IMPACT

TITLE:            CONCERNING THE AUTHORITY OF SHERIFFS WITH RESPECT TO PERSONNEL.

Summary of Assessment

            This bill authorizes a sheriff to discharge and discipline employees, and to adopt written policies, rules, and regulations relating to deputy sheriffs. The bill specifies that practices of employment, promotion, or dismissal shall be unaffected by an employee’s religious beliefs, marital status, racial or ethnic background, or participation in community affairs. The bill will become effective upon the signature of the Governor.

            This bill will not affect state or local government revenue or expenditures. Therefore, the bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
