TITLE:            CONCERNING AUTHORIZATION FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF FORMER MEMBERS OF THE COLORADO GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO CERTAIN GOVERNMENTAL ENTITIES TO WHICH CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE COLORADO GENERAL ASSEMBLY ARE APPOINTED.

Summary of Legislation

The bill would allow the former members of the General Assembly, in lieu of current General Assembly members, to be appointed to certain commissions, boards, task forces, committees, councils, and panels to which current members of the General Assembly are appointed. The former members appointed under this provision would serve at the pleasure of the official making the appointment. The bill will become effective at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the ninety-day period after adjournment sine die of the General Assembly, or on the date of the official declaration of the vote of the people as proclaimed by the Governor, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to Article V, Section 1 (3) of the State Constitution.

The bill does not increase or decrease the number of members serving on these boards and commissions. The bill expands the number of persons that may be appointed to these positions. The bill would not change existing revenues, expenditures, or workloads for state or local governments. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
