TITLE: CONCERNING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE MOST CURRENT VERSION OF THE ‘AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD FOR BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES PROVIDING ACCESSIBILITY AND USABILITY FOR PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED PEOPLE’ AS THE CRITERIA FOR STRUCTURAL REQUIREMENTS FOR BUILDINGS.
Summary of Assessment
This bill will require the design criteria for buildings constructed by public or private funds to comply with the most current version of the “American National Standard for Buildings and Facilities Providing Accessability and Usability for Physically Handicapped People”, commonly cited as “ANSI A117.1”. The bill repeals provisions in existing law that are inconsistent with the standard.
The bill will become effective upon the signature of the Governor.
The bill will not affect state, or local government, revenue or expenditures. Therefore, the bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
