TITLE:            CONCERNING GROUNDS FOR EXPULSION RELATED TO DANGEROUS WEAPONS.

Summary of Assessment

Under current law, carrying, bringing, using, or possessing a dangerous weapon without the authorization of the school or the school district is grounds for mandatory expulsion. This bill would modify the statute for mandatory expulsion to apply to a dangerous weapon that is a firearm or explosive device; or knowingly carrying, bringing, using, or possessing other types of dangerous weapons.

The bill would not affect the revenues or expenditures of the state or local school districts. Therefore, the bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact. The bill would become effective upon signature of the Governor.
