TITLE: CONCERNING MEMBERSHIP ON DISTRICT BOARDS OF HEALTH.
Summary of Assessment
The bill changes the maximum number of members on a district Board of Health from seven to nine, requiring that the board consist of at least seven and not more than nine members. The bill is effective upon signature of the Governor. Currently, there are three district Boards of Health:
• Las Animas/Huerfano Counties
• San Juan Basin — Archuleta and La Plata Counties
• Tri-County — Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas Counties
Board members serve without compensation, but are reimbursed for actual travel and subsistence expenses from local funds. If counties choose to increase the number of board members for their respective district Boards of Health, additional meeting-related expenses will be reimbursed within existing budgets. Because these costs are estimated to be minimal, the bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
