TITLE:            CONCERNING THE PROVISION BY ELECTORS OF THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF AN ELECTOR'S SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IN CONNECTION WITH VOTER REGISTRATION.

Summary of Assessment

The bill would require a person to provide the last 4 digits of their social security number when registering to vote. County clerk and recorders would give written notice to those electors who registered without providing such information. The bill would become effective upon the Governor’s signature.

The addition of the last four numbers of a persons’ social security number would not increase the cost to the county clerks office. Supplying the written notice would not increase the costs to county clerks significantly. The bill would not change existing revenues, expenditures, or workloads for state or local governments. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
