TITLE:            CONCERNING AUTHORIZATION OF PERSONS WHO HAVE OBTAINED SPECIAL LICENSE PLATES FOR DISABLED VETERANS TO MAKE USE OF PARKING PRIVILEGES FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.

Summary of Assessment

The bill would allow a person with disabled veteran special license plates issued by any state to park in a parking space identified as being reserved for persons with disabilities or in areas on public streets regardless of time limitation in the same manner as other persons with disabilities. The bill will become effective at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the ninety-day period after adjournment sine die of the General Assembly, or on the date of the official declaration of the vote of the people as proclaimed by the Governor, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to Article V, Section 1 (3) of the State Constitution.

The bill would expand the number of persons that may park in parking spaces available for persons with disabilities. The bill would not change existing revenues, expenditures, or workloads for state or local governments. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
