Local Government Impact —See Local Government Impact Section below.

Local Government Impact

The bill would have a fiscal impact on local government if a municipality, county, or city and county enacts a resolution or ordinance that prohibits a minor from possessing cigarettes or tobacco products. Since the bill does not require local government to enact a resolution or ordinance, the fiscal impact would be conditional. The bill does not specify the civil or criminal penalty a Board of County Commissioners may adopt, therefore, the fiscal impact has not been estimated.

Spending Authority

This fiscal note indicates that no spending authority would be required for FY 1998-99.
