TITLE:            CONCERNING A REQUIREMENT TO REPORT THE USE OF AT-RISK PUPIL FUNDING.

Summary of Assessment

            This bill would require each school district that receives funding for at-risk pupils to annually submit a report to the Department of Education that identifies:

               the number of at-risk pupils enrolled in the school district;

               the number of at-risk pupils enrolled in each elementary school, middle school, high school, charter school, and alternative school in the school district;

               the amount of funding for at-risk pupils received by the school district; and

               the purposes for which the school district used the funding received for at-risk pupils.

            The Department of Education would provide a compilation of school district reports to the Governor and to the Education Committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

            Except for providing data on the purposes for which school districts use funding received for at-risk pupils, school districts are already complying with the reporting requirements of the bill. The reporting of data on the purposes for which funds are used for at-risk pupils would not require additional expenditures of school districts or the state. Therefore, the bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.

            The bill would become effective upon signature of the Governor.
