TITLE:            CONCERNING THE ELIMINATION OF THE REQUIREMENT THAT AN ABSENTEE VOTER PROVIDE RESIDENCE ADDRESS INFORMATION IN THE SELF-AFFIRMATION PRINTED ON THE RETURN ENVELOPE FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT.

Summary of Assessment

The bill would eliminate the requirement that an absentee voter provide his or her residence address in the self-affirmation on the return envelope for an absentee ballot. This bill would become effective July 1, 1998.

Eliminating the requirement that an absentee voter provide their address on the return envelop would not change the revenues or expenditures of state or local governments. The time taken by county election officials to verify absentee voters would not increase significantly. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
