TITLE: CONCERNING ADDITION OF A COUNTY JUDGE IN LARIMER COUNTY
Summary of Legislation
This fiscal note is revised to make corrections to calculations on the fiscal note dated January 20, 1998.
This bill would increase the number of county judges in Larimer County from three to four.
The bill would take effect upon signature of the Governor.

The bill would impact expenditures of the Judicial Department and these increased expenditures are identified in the table below. Currently, each county court judge is staffed with a Division Clerk and an Assistant Division Clerk.

Local Expenditures
The bill may result in increased courthouse maintenance and operating costs due to the increase in staff and trial activity created by the addition of one county court judge. Under current law, these costs are borne by the counties. The amount of these increased costs cannot be quantified at this time.
Expenditures Not Included
Pursuant to the Joint Budget Committee’s budget policies, the following expenditures have not been included in this fiscal note:
• health and life insurance costs;
• short-term disability costs;
• inflationary cost factors;
• leased space; and
• indirect costs.
Spending Authority
The fiscal note indicates that the Judicial Department would require an appropriation of $199,330 General Fund and 3.0 FTE in FY 1998-99.
