TITLE:            CONCERNING APPROVAL OF WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLAIM SETTLEMENT AGREEMENTS.



Summary of Assessment


            The provisions of this bill would require that workers’ compensation claim settlement agreements be signed by the employer or, with the employer’s written consent, the insurer prior to approval. The bill would require that an employer sign or reject a settlement agreement within 30 days after receiving the written agreement. The bill would become effective upon signature of the Governor.


            The provisions of this bill would not have a significant impact on the workload of the Division of Workers’ Compensation, Department of Labor and Employment. The provisions of the bill would not affect any other agency of the state, or unit of local government. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact.
