TITLE:            CONCERNING THE CONTINUATION OF THE MINERALS, ENERGY, AND GEOLOGY POLICY ADVISORY BOARD IN THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.

Summary of Legislation

Current law requires a sunset review of the Minerals, Energy, and Geology Policy Advisory Board, under the Department of Natural Resources, prior to repeal on July 1, 1998. This bill continues the advisory board indefinitely without further review.

Summary of Assessment

According to the Department of Natural Resources, the advisory board serves without compensation or travel reimbursement, but incurrs annual meeting expenses of approximately $1,500. These expenses are paid from the the Executive Director’s annual operating budget.

The continuation of an existing program does not affect state base revenue or expenditures. Therefore, this bill is assessed as having no fiscal impact. The bill will become effective upon the signature of the Governor.
