HR97-1008 by Representatives Zimmerman, Snyder, Reeser, Lawrence, Mace,
Nichol, Tupa, and Veiga--Concerning recognizing Monday, March 31, 1997, as
"Labor Day at the Capitol", in honor of
the working men and women of Colorado.
WHEREAS, The State of Colorado was built by settlers who worked from dawn
until dusk in mining, steel mills, railroad construction, ranching, farming, and other
industries; and
WHEREAS, Since its early days, Colorado's economy has expanded greatly to
include many manufacturing, hightechnology, recreational, and tourist industries
but our state's workers have maintained the work ethics of the settlers who built
Colorado; and
WHEREAS, This strong foundation of hard work is reflected in the hardworking
men and women who make up the backbone of our robust
economy; and
WHEREAS, All citizens of the State of Colorado should recognize and appreciate
the dedication, ethics, and strong efforts of our
working men and women; and
WHEREAS, Colorado's working men and women should be recognized and
thanked by setting aside this time to honor those who, day in and day out, work to
support their families and contribute to the betterment
of our State; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixtyfirst General
Assembly of the State of Colorado:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the Sixtyfirst General
Assembly do hereby recognize Monday, March 31, 1997 as "Labor Day at the
Capitol", in honor of the working men and women of Colorado.
