HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 97-1025

WHEREAS, The Colorado Union of Taxpayers is observing and celebrating its 20th year of service to the citizens of Colorado; and

WHEREAS, The Colorado Union of Taxpayers has become a consistent, influential, and important participant in issues that affect the function, role, and size of state government; and

WHEREAS, The Colorado Union of Taxpayers consistently has been a fair and vocal advocate for the freedom of the individual; and

WHEREAS, The Colorado Union of Taxpayers has offered a thoughtful voice in the political process by providing information, perspective, and analysis of political issues on behalf of the taxpayers of the state; and

WHEREAS, The Colorado Union of Taxpayers provides an invaluable service to state citizens through its involvement with ballot issues and its input and response to legislation proposed in the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, The Colorado Union of Taxpayers contributes a fundamentally necessary and unique service by providing a counterbalancing view to those of the many special interests that benefit from a larger, more expensive government; and

WHEREAS, The Colorado Union of Taxpayers provides ratings of legislators that allow constituents to effectively judge their legislators on fiscal matters; and

WHEREAS, Through the services and conscientious participation of its members in the political process, the Colorado Union of Taxpayers has become one of the most reputable informational organizations for the citizens of Colorado; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty­first General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein:

That we, the members of the Colorado General Assembly, hereby offer our sincere congratulations to the Colorado Union of Taxpayers and commend this remarkable organization for 20 years of valuable service to the citizens of Colorado.

Be It Further Resolved, That we, the members of the Colorado General Assembly, hereby express our appreciation of the Colorado Union of Taxpayers for the organization's ongoing commitment to intelligent political discourse and for representing the views of those people who pay for the many programs run by our government.
