CONCERNING THE AUTHORITY OF THE COURT TO ORDER PARENTAL
EDUCATION CLASSES IN DOMESTIC ABUSE CASES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State
of Colorado:
SECTION 1. 1410123.7
(2), Colorado Revised Statutes, 1987 Repl. Vol., as amended, is
amended to read:
1410123.7. Parental education
legislative declaration. (2) A
court may order a parent of a child under eighteen years of age
to attend a program designed to provide education concerning the
impact of separation and divorce on children in cases in which
the parent of a minor is a named party in a dissolution of marriage
proceeding, a legal separation proceeding, custody or parenting
time proceedings, or postdecree proceedings involving custody
or parenting time or proceedings in which the parent is the subject
of a restraining order issued pursuant to this title
ARTICLE.
SECTION 2. Safety
clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and
declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health, and safety.
