A BILL FOR AN ACT
CONCERNING MILEAGE ALLOWANCES FOR STATE OFFICERS
AND EMPLOYEES, AND MAKING AN APPROPRIATION THEREFOR.

Increases mileage allowances for state officers and
employees for miles traveled on official state business. Creates
a mileage allowance for privately owned aircraft when authorized
and necessary for official state business. Makes an appropriation
for the implementation of the act.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:
SECTION 1. 249104 (2), Colorado Revised Statutes, 1988 Repl. Vol., is amended to read:
249104. Mileage allowances.
(2) On and after July 1, 1985
1997, state officers and employees shall be allowed mileage fees
of twenty
TWENTYEIGHT cents per mile for each mile actually and necessarily
traveled while on official state business and, WHEN AUTHORIZED
TO BE UTILIZED AND NECESSARY FOR OFFICIAL STATE BUSINESS, twentyfour
THIRTYTWO cents per mile when
FOR fourwheeldrive vehicles are
authorized to be utilized and are necessary for official state
business AND FORTY CENTS PER MILE
FOR PRIVATELY OWNED AIRCRAFT.
SECTION 2. Appropriation. In addition to any other appropriation, there is hereby appropriated, to the department of administration for allocation by the controller to affected state agencies, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997, the sum of _____ dollars ($__), or so much thereof as may be necessary, for the implementation of this act. Of said sum, _____ dollars ($____) shall be out of any moneys in the general fund not otherwise appropriated.
SECTION 3. Effective date. This act shall take effect July 1, 1997.
SECTION 4. Safety
clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines,
and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health, and safety.
