CONCERNING THE DISTRIBUTION OF MOTOR VEHICLE FEES
THAT ARE COLLECTED BY COUNTY CLERK AND RECORDERS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State
of Colorado:
SECTION 1. 426137
(5), Colorado Revised Statutes, 1993 Repl. Vol., as amended, is
amended to read:
426137. Fees.
(5) For the issuance of any duplicate certificate of
title, except as may be otherwise provided in this part 1, the
agent shall be paid a fee of three
SIX dollars and fifty cents, and, in all cases wherein the department
assigns a new identifying number to any motor vehicle, the fee
charged for such assignment shall be three dollars and fifty cents.
SECTION 2. 426138
(2), Colorado Revised Statutes, 1993 Repl. Vol., as amended, is
amended to read:
426138. Disposition of fees. (2) All
fees collected by the authorized agent under the provisions of
section 426137 (5) shall be disposed of as follows:
One dollar
FOR A DUPLICATE CERTIFICATE OF TITLE, FIVE DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS
SHALL BE RETAINED BY THE AUTHORIZED AGENT AND DISPOSITION MADE
AS PROVIDED BY LAW; AND ONE DOLLAR SHALL BE CREDITED TO THE SPECIAL
PURPOSE ACCOUNT ESTABLISHED BY SECTION 421211; AND,
FOR ASSIGNMENT OF A NEW IDENTIFYING NUMBER TO A MOTOR VEHICLE,
TWO DOLLARS and fifty cents shall be retained by the authorized
agent and disposition made as provided by law; two
dollars AND ONE DOLLAR shall be credited
to the special purpose account established by section 421211.
All fees collected by the department under the provisions of
section 426137 (5) shall be credited to such special
purpose account.
SECTION 3. Effective
date applicability. This act shall take
effect July 1, 1997, and shall apply to fees collected on or after
said date.
SECTION 4. Safety
clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and
declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health, and safety.
