Bill Summary (Note: This summary applies to this bill as introduced and does not necessarily reflect any amendments that may be subsequently adopted.) Extends the 60¢ surcharge on drivers' licenses that covers the cost of security features. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. 42-2-114 (2) (a) (I) (F), Colorado Revised Statutes, is amended to read: 42-2-114. License issued - fees - repeal. (2) (a) (I) Except as provided in subsection (3) of this section: (F) In addition to the fees imposed in sub-subparagraphs (A) to (D) of this subparagraph (I), the fee for the issuance of a minor driver's or driver's license shall include a sixty-cent surcharge. Such The moneys collected pursuant to the surcharge shall be forwarded to the department for transmission to the state treasurer, who shall credit the same to the identification security fund created in section 42-1-220. This sub-subparagraph (F) is repealed, effective July 1, 2006. SECTION 2. Repeal. 42-1-220 (3), Colorado Revised Statutes, is repealed as follows: 42-1-220. Identification security fund. (3) This section is repealed, effective July 1, 2006. SECTION 3. Repeal. 42-2-306 (1) (a) (V) (B), Colorado Revised Statutes, is repealed as follows: 42-2-306. Fees - disposition - repeal. (1) The department shall charge and collect the following fees: (a) (V) (B) This subparagraph (V) is repealed, effective July 1, 2006. SECTION 4. Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.
