Bill Summary (Note: This summary applies to this bill as introduced and does not necessarily reflect any amendments that may be subsequently adopted.) Requires an insurer offering medical payments coverage for the purposes of motor vehicle insurance to offer coverage amounts of $10,000 and $25,000, as well as any other amount deemed appropriate by the insurer. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. Part 6 of article 4 of title 10, Colorado Revised Statutes, is amended BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION to read: 10-4-634. Medical payments coverage. If an insurer offers medical payments coverage in conjunction with the coverage required pursuant to section 10-4-620, such medical payments coverage shall provide for benefits of ten thousand dollars and twenty-five thousand dollars. Nothing in this section shall be construed to limit any other coverage amounts being offered by an insurer. SECTION 2. Effective date - applicability. This act shall take effect July 1, 2004, and shall apply to medical payments coverage policies issued or renewed on or after said date. SECTION 3. Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.
