CONCERNING RECOGNITION OF MILITARY PERSONNEL FROM COLORADO WHO HAVE SERVED IN OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, OPERATION FREEDOM'S SENTINEL, OPERATION NEW DAWN, OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, AND IN THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM AND HONORING THOSE WHO HAVE DIED WHILE SERVING THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM AROUND THE WORLD. WHEREAS, Thousands of military personnel from Colorado have served in Afghanistan in Operation Freedom's Sentinel, in the Middle East as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, and in the Global War on Terrorism, as well as past operations Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom, including troops based at Fort Carson, the United States Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base, and Buckley Air Force Base; members of the Colorado National Guard, Army Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve; and troops from Colorado who are deployed with military units based in other states; and WHEREAS, In October 2015, Major Phyllis Joy Pelky, 45, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel; Major Pelky served as an assistant professor of German at the United States Air Force Academy and, due to her integrity and service, she was ultimately selected as Aide-de-Camp to the Superintendent of the Academy; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventieth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein: That we, the members of the Seventieth General Assembly of the state of Colorado: (1) Remember and honor Major Phyllis Pelky and all Coloradans who have given their lives in service to their country in Operation Freedom's Sentinel, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation New Dawn, Operation Enduring Freedom, and in the Global War on Terrorism; (2) Express our sympathy to the families and friends of those service members who have died; and (3) Honor the service, dedication, and valor of all military personnel from Colorado who have served and are currently serving in military operations around the world and in the Global War on Terrorism. _________________________________________________________ Dickey Lee Hullinghorst Bill L.
