Concerning the authority of the department of corrections to distribute medication. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 12-42.5-118, amend (15) (b) as follows: 12-42.5-118. Compounding - dispensing - sale of drugs and devices - rules. (15) (b) The following may distribute compounded and prepackaged medications, without limitation, to pharmacies under common ownership of the entity: (I) A prescription drug outlet owned and operated by a hospital that is accredited by the joint commission on accreditation of healthcare organizations or a successor organization; and (II) A prescription drug outlet operated by a health maintenance organization, as defined in section 10-16-102, C.R.S.; and (III) The Colorado department of corrections. SECTION 2. Safety clause.
