The bill instructs the parks and wildlife commission to promulgate rules allowing veterans free entrance to state parks or recreation areas. The rules may require the person to show a DD214 form, a veteran's license plate, or a veteran's driver's license or identification card. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 33-12-106, amend (2.3) as follows: 33-12-106. Park entrance privileges - veterans - wounded warriors - search and rescue organizations conducting training activities - legislative declaration - rules. (2.3) The commission may shall promulgate rules to allow veterans free entrance to any state park or recreation area, not to include campgrounds, yurts, or other amenities and services offered. for veterans on one day each year. The commission may determine by rule which day veterans are allowed free entrance to state parks and recreation areas The rules may require a veteran to show a DD214 form issued by the United States government, a veteran's license plate issued under section 42-3-213, C.R.S., or a veteran identifier on a driver's license or identification card issued under section 42-2-114 (11) or 42-2-303 (5), C.R.S. SECTION 2. Act subject to petition - effective date. This act takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the expiration of the ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 5, 2015, if adjournment sine die is on May 6, 2015); except that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V of the state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this act within such period, then the act, item, section, or part will not take effect unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in November 2016 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the official declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.
