The renewable energy and energy efficiency for schools loan program provides loans to school districts to help them pay for technical assistance, equipment, or installation costs associated with renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. The bill authorizes a school district that receives a loan to also use the money received to conduct an energy audit for the purpose of establishing the amount of energy savings expected to result from such a project. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 22-92-104, amend (3) (a) as follows: 22-92-104. Renewable energy and energy efficiency for schools loan program - created - applications - permissible uses of loans. (3) (a) A qualified school district that receives a loan through the loan program shall use the moneys received to pay for technical assistance, equipment, or installation costs associated with a renewable energy project or an energy efficiency project and may also use such moneys to pay for an energy audit for the purpose of establishing the energy savings expected to result from the completion of such a project. SECTION 2. Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.
