CONCERNING RECOGNITION OF MILITARY PERSONNEL FROM COLORADO WHO HAVE SERVED IN OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, OPERATION FREEDOM'S SENTINEL, OPERATION NEW DAWN, OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, AND IN THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM AND HONORING THOSE WHO HAVE DIED WHILE SERVING THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM AROUND THE WORLD. WHEREAS, Thousands of military personnel from Colorado have served in Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom's Sentinel, in Iraq in Operation New Dawn, in the Middle East as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, and in the Global War on Terrorism, including troops based at Fort Carson, the United States Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base, and Buckley Air Force Base; members of the Colorado National Guard, Army Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve; and troops from Colorado who are deployed with military units based in other states; and WHEREAS, Since January 2014, the following United States Armed Forces members who called Colorado home made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country: Captain William H. Dubois, 30, of New Castle, a member of the United States Air Force assigned to the 77th Fighter Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, while serving in Operation Inherent Resolve; and Private First Class Jacob Henry Wykstra, 21, of Thornton, a member of the United States Army assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, at Fort Carson, Colorado, while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. WHEREAS, Since January 2014, the following soldiers from around the country who were based at Fort Carson, Colorado, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country in Operation Enduring Freedom: Specialist Adrian Michael Perkins, 19, of Pine Valley, California, a member of the United States Army assigned to 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Staff Sergeant Benjamin Gill Prange, 30, of Hickman, Nebraska, a member of the United States Army assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Specialist Daniela Rojas, 19, of Los Angeles, California, a member of the United States Army assigned to 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Private First Class Aaron Scott Toppen, 19, of Mokena, Illinois, a member of the United States Army assigned to 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; and Private First Class Keith Michael Williams, 19, of Visalia, California, a member of the United States Army assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventieth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein: That we, the members of the Seventieth General Assembly of the state of Colorado: (1) Remember and honor these and all Coloradans who have given their lives in service to their country in Operation New Dawn, Operation Freedom's Sentinel, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Enduring Freedom and in the Global War on Terrorism; (2) Express our sympathy to the families and friends of those service members who have died; and (3) Honor the service, dedication, and valor of all military personnel from Colorado who have served and are currently serving in military operations around the world and in the Global War on Terrorism. ________________________________________________________ Dickey Lee Hullinghorst Bill L.
