Concerning authorization for the state treasurer to loan to the state historical society for public display items presented to the governor as gifts to the state. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, amend 24-22-105 as follows: 24-22-105. Acceptance of gifts, legacies, and devises - display by state historical society permitted. (1) The state treasurer shall accept gifts, legacies, and devises of money and other property to the state, in the name of and on behalf of the state, with the approval of the governor and subject to the disposition thereof by the general assembly in accordance with the direction of the donor or devisor. (2) The state treasurer is authorized to loan to the state historical society any items presented to the governor as gifts to the state that the treasurer has accepted pursuant to subsection (1) of this section. The state historical society may display the items at the state museum or at similar or related venues across the state. SECTION 2. Act subject to petition - effective date. This act takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the expiration of the ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 6, 2014, if adjournment sine die is on May 7, 2014); except that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V of the state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this act within such period, then the act, item, section, or part will not take effect unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in November 2014 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the official declaration of the vote thereon by the governor. ________________________________________________________ Mark Ferrandino Morgan Carroll SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE PRESIDENT OF OF REPRESENTATIVES THE SENATE ____________________________ ____________________________ Marilyn Eddins Cindi L.
