Bill Summary (Note: This summary applies to this bill as introduced and does not reflect any amendments that may be subsequently adopted. The bill permits an initiative or referendum petition to include space for a registered elector to voluntarily include his or her telephone number, electronic mail address, or both. If a space for the information is included, a petition must clearly indicate that the information is not required in order for a registered elector to sign the petition. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 1-40-111, add (1.5) as follows: 1-40-111. Signatures - affidavits - notarization - list of circulators and notaries. (1.5) In addition to the information that a registered elector is required to provide on a petition pursuant to subsection (1) of this section, a petition may include space for a registered elector to include his or her telephone number, electronic mail address, or both. A registered elector is not required to provide this additional information. If a space for the information is included, the petition must clearly indicate that the information is not required in order for a registered elector to sign the petition. SECTION 2. Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.
