CONCERNING THE DESIGNATION OF MAY 13 THROUGH 19, 2012, AS "NATIONAL NURSING HOME WEEK". WHEREAS, The number of elderly and disabled citizens in the state of Colorado continues to grow; and WHEREAS, Over 17,000 elderly and disabled citizens, regardless of age, receive consistent quality of care and life in Colorado's nursing homes; and WHEREAS, Nursing homes employ nearly 20,000 long-term care professionals, contributing greatly to Colorado's economy and social well-being; and WHEREAS, The elderly and disabled now residing in our nursing home communities continue to share their journey with others through the virtue of their character, values, and patriotism; and WHEREAS, Through the Colorado Health Care Association's theme, "Life is a Song, Sing It!" elderly and disabled citizens share the continuous melodies of their lives in Colorado's nursing homes; and WHEREAS, The theme for National Nursing Home Week 2012 is "Celebrating the Journey" and beginning on May 13, nursing communities of the Colorado Health Care Association will celebrate the journey of the special individuals they care for and those dedicated professionals who provide care by hosting a variety of events statewide; and WHEREAS, Every nursing home community in Colorado welcomes visitors and volunteers to share in the enrichment of community spirit with our elderly and disabled citizens; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Sixty-eighth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives concurring herein: That we, the members of the Colorado General Assembly, declare the week of May 13 through 19, 2012, as "National Nursing Home Week" in the State of Colorado.
