CONCERNING RECOGNITION OF MILITARY PERSONNEL FROM COLORADO WHO HAVE SERVED IN OPERATION NEW DAWN AND OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM AND HONORING THOSE WHO HAVE DIED WHILE SERVING THEIR COUNTRY IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN. WHEREAS, Thousands of military personnel from Colorado have served in Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom and in Iraq in Operation New Dawn, including troops based at Fort Carson, the United States Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base, and Buckley Air Force Base; members of the Colorado National Guard, Army Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve; and troops from Colorado who are deployed with military units based in other states; and WHEREAS, Since January of 2011, the following soldiers based at Fort Carson, Colorado, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country in Operation Enduring Freedom: Sergeant Ken King Hermogino, 30, of Edwards Air Force Base, California, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Captain Joshua Sean Lawrence, 29, of Nashville, Tennessee, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Staff Sergeant Lex Lee Lewis, 40, of Rapid City, South Dakota, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Master Sergeant Charles Levan Price III, 40, of Milam, Texas, a member of the United States Army assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Captain Drew Edward Russell, 25, of Scotts, Michigan, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Sergeant Robert Curtis Sisson Jr., 29, of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; Private First Class Eric Daniel Soufrine, 20, of Woodbridge, Connecticut, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; and WHEREAS, Since January of 2011, the following soldiers based at Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country in Operation Enduring Freedom: Major Philip Dave Ambard, 44, of Edmonds, Washington, a member of the United States Air Force assigned to the 460th Space Communications Squadron; Chief Warrant Officer David Rudolph Carter, 47, of Centennial, Colorado, a member of the Colorado National Guard assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment, General Support Aviation Battalion; and WHEREAS, Airman First Class Matthew Ryan Seidler, 24, of Westminster, Maryland, a member of the United States Air Force assigned to the 21st Civil Engineer Squadron, based at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; and WHEREAS, Since January of 2011, the following United States Armed Forces members who called Colorado home, but who were stationed elsewhere around the nation and the world, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country: Specialist Nathan Ryan Beyers, 24, of Littleton, Colorado, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 145th Brigade Support Battalion, 116th Cavalry Heavy Brigade Combat Team, based at Post Falls, Idaho, while serving as part of Operation New Dawn; Specialist Joshua Ross Campbell, 22, of Bennett, Colorado, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, while serving as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; Sergeant Mark Adams Cofield, 25, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a member of the United States Army assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, XVIII Airborne Corps, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, while serving as part of Operation New Dawn; Private First Class Christopher Alexander Horns, 20, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, based at Joint-Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, while serving as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; Sergeant Omar Alejandro Jones, 28, of Crook, Colorado, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 126th Chemical Battalion, 92nd Troop Command, Nebraska National Guard, based at Wahoo, Nebraska, while serving as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; Corporal Brandon Michael Kirton, 25, of Centennial, Colorado, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, while serving as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; Captain Mark Russell McDowell, 26, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a member of the United States Air Force assigned to the 336th Fighter Squadron, based at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, while serving as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; Lance Corporal Christopher Steele Meis, 20, of Bennett, Colorado, a member of the United States Marine Corps assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, while serving as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; Chief Warrant Officer Kenneth Ryan White, 35, of Fort Collins, Colorado, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Drum, New York, while serving as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; Sergeant Vorasack Thomas Xaysana, 30, of Westminster, Colorado, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Hood, Texas, while serving as part of Operation New Dawn; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty-eighth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein: That we, the members of the Sixty-eighth General Assembly of the state of Colorado: (1) Remember and honor these Coloradans who have given their lives in service to their country in Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom;
