CONCERNING THE RECOGNITION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE PROVIDERS FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO. WHEREAS, In Colorado, more than 15,000 emergency medical service (EMS) providers respond to over 580,000 calls for assistance each year; and WHEREAS, Colorado has a wide range of emergency medical care personnel, including emergency medical dispatchers, local first responder units, first aid and rescue squads, mobile intensive care programs, an air EMS program, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and educators, both volunteer and paid professionals; and WHEREAS, The primary goal of EMS specialists is to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the citizens of Colorado, along with visitors to our state; and WHEREAS, In placing the well-being of the public above their personal concerns and, in some instances, risking their own lives or safety in emergency situations, the state's EMS specialists exemplify the highest commitment to humanitarian ideals; and WHEREAS, The citizens of Colorado benefit from the knowledge, skills, and dedication of EMS specialists, as they work together to ensure prompt and appropriate treatment at the scene of a medical emergency, in transit to the hospital, and in the emergency department; and WHEREAS, Advances in emergency medical care have increased the number of lives saved every year in Colorado; and WHEREAS, Colorado should continue to improve and enhance its EMS system to ensure that the highest standards of emergency medical care are available; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Sixty-eighth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives concurring herein: That we, the members of the Colorado General Assembly hereby: (1) Express our gratitude to each EMS professional in Colorado who provides emergency medical service under conditions that are often stressful and sometimes dangerous; and (2) Commend the EMS community as a whole for its commitment to serve and care for the people of Colorado. ____________________________ ____________________________ Brandon C.
