Currently, it is illegal to have a screen that receives a television broadcast at any point forward of the driver's seat or visible to the driver. The bill allows the screen to be forward of the driver's seat so long as visual entertainment is not visible to the driver and clarifies that it is the display of video programming, not the reception of television, that triggers the prohibition. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. 42-4-201 (3), Colorado Revised Statutes, is amended to read: 42-4-201. (3) No A person shall not drive any a motor vehicle equipped with any television viewer, screen, or other means of visually receiving a television broadcast which is located in the motor vehicle at any point forward of the back of the driver's seat or which is a video display visible to the driver. while operating the motor vehicle. SECTION 2. Effective date - applicability. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011, and shall apply to offenses committed on or after said date. SECTION 3. Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.
