2011 HOUSE RESOLUTION 11-1011 BY REPRESENTATIVE(S) Ramirez, Balmer, Baumgardner, Casso, Fischer, Gerou, Looper, Priola, Riesberg, Schafer S., Solano, Sonnenberg, Soper, Todd, Wilson. CONCERNING APPRECIATION FOR 150 YEARS OF SERVICE BY MASONS IN COLORADO, AND, IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, RECOGNIZING AUGUST 2011 AS "COLORADO MASONIC MONTH". WHEREAS, The Masonic Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Colorado was first organized and completed in Colorado Springs on August 2, 1861, the same year Colorado became a United States territory; and WHEREAS, Colorado Masons were instrumental in the formation and establishment of the Colorado state government and its local governmental entities; and WHEREAS, The important tenets of Colorado Masonry have always been those of brotherly love, relief, and truth; and WHEREAS, Contemporary Colorado Masonic organizations have contributed more than ten million dollars in college scholarships to deserving Colorado students; and WHEREAS, In 2011 alone, Colorado Masons have given over a million dollars in association with The Children's Hospital in Denver to establish and maintain services for children with speech and hearing disabilities; and WHEREAS, Colorado Masons have supported the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, aiding research on sight-related disabilities, and have contributed to many other important charities that provide vital services to the residents of Colorado; and WHEREAS, Colorado Masons continue to be exemplary citizens in their respective communities, as well as good and faithful fathers and family members; and WHEREAS, The Masonic orders of Colorado comprise one of the oldest continuously active fraternal organizations in the state; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty-eighth General Assembly of the State of Colorado: That we, the members of the House of Representatives: (1) Recognize August 2011 to be "Colorado Masonic Month", in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the construction of the Masonic Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Colorado; (2) Express our deepest appreciation for the contributions and accomplishments of Masons in the state; and (3) Encourage all citizens of the state to reflect upon those contributions and accomplishments and to take inspiration from the Colorado Masons by being active and involved members of their own communities. Be It Further Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to Most Worshipful Brother John V.
