      also SENATOR(S) Keller, Gibbs, Gordon, Isgar, Johnson, Kester,
      McElhany, Mitchell S., Morse, Romer, Schwartz, Spence, Taylor,
      Tochtrop, Tupa, Wiens, and Williams.
      
          CONCERNING THE DESIGNATION OF SKIING AND
      SNOWBOARDING AS THE OFFICIAL STATE WINTER
      RECREATIONAL SPORTS OF COLORADO. 
      
      
          WHEREAS, The skiing and snowboarding industry is an important part
      of Colorado's economy and attracts visitors from around the United States
      and the world; and
      
          WHEREAS, The participation in these winter recreational sports offers
      the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking vistas of Colorado mountains; and
      
          WHEREAS, Athletes participate in skiing and snowboarding
      competitions at the Olympic Games; and
      
          WHEREAS, Skiing and snowboarding present opportunities for those
      with disabilities to develop their skills and demonstrate their talents through
      venues such as the Special Olympics; and
      
      
          
          
          WHEREAS, The health benefits gained from exercise in the outdoors
      are well documented, and these winter recreational sports offer such
      benefits; and
      
          WHEREAS, One may begin enjoying skiing and snowboarding very
      early in life and may continue enjoying these winter recreational sports
      through adulthood; and
      
          WHEREAS, Both snowboarding and skiing are synonymous with
      Colorado; now, therefore,
      
          Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty-sixth
      General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein:
      
          That we, the members of the General Assembly, do hereby designate the
      winter recreational sports of skiing and snowboarding as the official state
      winter recreational sports of Colorado.
