Career Opportunities at the OSA

The Office of the State Auditor staff reflects diverse expertise in a broad range of fields including Accounting, Public Administration, Business/Finance, Political Science, and the Social/Behavioral Sciences.  All professional staff have bachelor's degrees; the majority also have advanced degrees and professional certifications, such as C.P.A. or C.I.A.  The OSA Career Opportunity Program encompasses comprehensive professional development and training, progressive management initiatives, and opportunities and incentives for advancement. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT and TRAINING
The OSA provides ongoing training to meet the continuing education requirements set forth by various professional and regulatory associations, including the Government Accountability Office, the Colorado State Board of Accountancy, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The OSA also provides courses to staff on topics such as auditing with computers, financial audit theory, ethics, quantitative research methods, and writing skills. In addition to completing a core curriculum of courses, staff attend external courses in topic areas that are directly beneficial to the employee and the OSA.

INTERNSHIPS
The OSA offers financial and performance auditing internships for undergraduate and graduate students who want to build careers in government auditing. Our paid internships give students the opportunity to work directly with our audit teams to gain valuable exposure to the audit process. Interns receive hands-on auditing experience, knowledge about Colorado's various state agencies, and an understanding of how our state government operates.
