Representative Massey, Chair, made opening remarks and called the meeting to order. Representative Scott and Representative Massey, co-prime sponsors of House Bill 12-1324, presented the bill. The bill changes the role and mission of Colorado Mesa University. Under current law, the university's admission standard is "moderately selective." This bill changes the admission standard to "selective." The bill also increases the number of members of the board of trustees from eleven to thirteen.

The following person testified:

01:38 PM -- Tim Foster, President, Colorado Mesa University (CMU), testified in support of the bill. President Foster stated that Representative Massey did a good job of walking through the bill. He added that the bill will increase the board membership by two -- a faculty member and a student -- who will be nonvoting members of the board.

Representative Peniston asked why the additional two board members would not be voting members. President Foster responded.
