President Shaffer called the Legislative Council Committee to order and stated that the first item on the agenda was to elect a Chair and a Vice-Chair for the committee.

08:08 AM -- Legislative Council Staff Budget

Mike Mauer, Director, Legislative Council Staff, presented the Legislative Council Staff FY 2010-2011 Budget Request (Attachment A). He informed the committee that the staff is requesting a flat budget. Mr. Mauer asked that if the committee approves the budget request, that staff be allowed to make changes with the Executive Committee if additional cuts are needed.

President Shaffer reminded the committee that last year, the Executive Committee discussed suspending interim committees in 2011 to save additional money in the legislative budget. He stated that he will be following through with that proposal in a bill later this session.
